To obtain your Amateur Radio Licence you have to successfully sit a series of Assessments.

Studying for the Assessment :
The Australian Amateur Radio Service consists of 3 licence levels -
Foundation, Standard and Advanced.
For study to sit the Foundation Level Assessment, purchase and
study of the WIA Foundation Licence Manual is highly recommended.
The manual can be purchased from theTARCinc for $15 per copy.
For study to sit the Standard and Advanced Level Assessments participation
in Ron Bertrand's RadioElectronicSchool is highly recommended

You will definitely need to download the current Amateur LCD and the current
edition of the WIA Practical Assessment Form.

understanding of the licensing and assessment requirements.

Choosing Your Callsign:
Let's think positive and assume you get through your Assessments with
flying colours ! One other thing you will have to think about is
what callsign you might want to have, and is it taken already.
A search of the WIA Public List of Available Callsigns will advise you what
callsigns have or haven't been taken already.
You will need to have chosen a prime and secondary callsign by the time
you have been assessed so that if you are successful you can fill in
the WIA Callsign Recommendation Form at the assessment venue.
