- TARC does the John Moyle Field Day 2016
Happening from Friday afternoon 18th to Sunday lunch 20th March 2016 at :
Burdekin Duck Roadhouse and Caravan Park,
Flinders Highway Sellheim. Phone 07-47873587.

Portable operation is the go so make sure you bring plenty of batteries
and whisper quiet generators if you can.

to get there:
approx. 111km from Cluden Park intersection Townsville.
Trundle along the Flinders Highway towards Charters Towers until you cross
the mighty Burdekin River at the Macrossan Bridge and start to head up the hill to Sellheim.
Keep an eye out to the right and get ready to turn in to the Roadhouse.

approx. 15km from the Flinders Hwy Heavy Vehicle intersection Charters Towers.
Trundle along the Flinders Highway towards Townsville. Slow down as you get into Sellheim.
Keep an eye out to the left and get ready to turn into the Roadhouse..

Upon arrival pull up near the Roadhouse and go in to find out where your site is.

The Park features powered and unpowered caravan and camp sites and it is planned
to set up the JMFD station in the unpowered paddock closest to Charters Towers.
The Roadhouse is renown for generous and yummy meals and is also well stocked for
basic grocery needs. Amenities are good and clean and there is good mobile internet
access via 3G.

The Park is situated on the edge of what used to be the Sellheim Army Camp and the
memorial is within easy walking distance. The Burdekin River is a bit further away,
a short car ride gets you there really quick.

There are a number of nice high eucalypt trees available to support HF dipoles and the
site has all weather access. Should we be lucky enough to be marooned if the Burdekin River
floods then we will still be very well off.

Logging for the event will be done by a dude that can type using a 12V powered
netbook running the latest version of VKCL, there will be lots of antennae lofting
and tweaking, operating in a location that can be used what ever weather is happening
plus plenty of chances to kick back and socialise.

like getting or upgrading your licence.
