Cape Cleveland is located on the Queensland coast about 20km from Townsville.

There are no roads to the lighthouse and it is currently unmanned so all equipment and provisions will have to be transported by boat. There is a road from the beach and a vehicle is available to carry most of the gear, however you will have to walk up the road which climbs a vertical distance of 65 metres to the base of the lighthouse.

The lighthouse is an 11 metre structure and located 64 metres above sea level.

There are also 2 old lighthouse keepers houses and a number of sheds on the site. The lighthouse was originally built in 1879 and has been upgraded numerous times and today it is solar powered and automated. It was demanned in 1987 and until that time had various other functions including shipping and weather observations.
